Each year NorCal GSP Rescue faces increasing medical costs, and we need your help. Our group is one of the few that takes in older and special needs dogs and this has strained our funds. On average, we spend about $850 per dog, and we only receive about $225 per adoption. If a dog requires surgery or special care, the cost is even higher.

We're excited to launch our
Tribute Giving program! Tribute Giving provides a special way to reach out to family and friends in a meaningful way while providing support for NorCal GSP Rescue's dogs.

^ Sponsorship Program
|
| The NorCal GSP Rescue Sponsorship Program allows individuals, families, or companies to sponsor a GSP listed on our adoption page under the Foster Dogs section, until that GSP finds its forever home. Sponsors can help provide these wonderful dogs with medical treatment, collars, tags, food, bedding, toys, and any other needs that may arise (everything that is not covered by the adoption donation).
Make a minimum one-time donation of $25.00 and you will be acknowledged on our website under the GSP’s picture as the sponsor with your first name and a small statement, if you wish. Each GSP can have more than one sponsor and one person can sponsor more than one GSP.

^ Great Senior Pooch Fund
|
|
Our goal is to help the dogs that really need us. All too often, older dogs are dumped at the shelter, with reasons like ‘too old to hunt’ or ‘not much time left’ or ‘too sick.’ And the older dogs often remain in foster care much longer than the younger dogs, and have more (expensive) needs – such as medical care, medications, surgeries. Sometimes they remain in our foster program the rest of their lives.
Older dogs aren’t as “exciting” as puppies. Everyone wants to help the cute little puppies. But we want to help the oldies, the ones who deserve love and care, and a chance to live out their “retirement” years in comfort.
We need your help! We need people like you who have a soft spot for the oldies, who want to help older GSPs live out their days in comfort and see to it that they get the medical care they deserve. Their lives may not have been that great, but gosh darn, the rest of their lives will be!

Too often, older dogs are dumped at the shelter for reasons like “can't hunt” or “too old" or "sick.” These dogs may remain in foster care much longer than younger dogs, and we want to provide them with the best of care. To do that, we need money. Yes, your money. Won't you feel good knowing you made a difference? While others were helping cute little puppies, you reached out to make a senior dog's life worth living? That your donation provided much needed medication or labwork or surgery?

Our foster families normally donate the cost of feeding their foster dog(s). But in these trying economic times, we have foster families who are out of work and money is tight, or just having trouble making ends meet. They are happy to continue to provide a loving foster home for one or more foster dogs but are struggling with the cost of dog food.
Please let us know if you can:
- Provide a large bag of good quality dog food to a drop point in the Sac area or the SF Bay Area, and/or
- Provide a gift card to one of the larger pet food stores such as PetSmart, PetCo, PetFoodExpress, and/or
- Provide a Costco gift card, and/or
- Provide a monetary donation (via
Paypal or by mail to PO Box 933, Menlo Park, CA 94026).
Any money donated specifically to the Foster Food Fund will be used solely to assist our foster homes in feeding their foster dogs. Your donation is tax-deductible.

^ Company Matching and Employee Giving
|
|
Be sure to check if your employer has any sort of company matching or employee giving program. For example, some employers will match your donation up to their predetermined limit. Other employers give a contribution if you volunteer x number of hours per year to a non-profit organization. And some employers will contribute to a non-profit organization on your behalf once you designate the cause.
Usually, the employer will send a form to us for verification of your donation or hours. This form can be mailed to us at:
Treasurer NorCal GSP Rescue PO Box 933 Menlo Park, CA 94026
Remember, we are a non-profit organization, so your donations are tax-deductible, and your employer will receive tax benefits from their contributions! The following companies support their employees' charitable giving:
Altria, Blue Shield Cares, Dealey Renton & Associates, Genentech, Google, Safeco, SMART and UBS.

My Mutt Program
|
|
My Mutt - NorCal GSP Rescue Teams up with Pet Food Express (PFE)
All over northern California, we are lucky to be in the midst of some 30 Pet Food Express stores – locally owned & operated. PFE has a huge heart for animal rescue groups and have many programs to support our fundraising and outreach efforts. PFE has created My Mutt Program: Celebrating Rescue & Adoption
The My Mutt program supports agencies and rescue groups by creating professionally photographed giant wall posters of your beloved rescue. These amazing color posters can be seen hanging on the walls and from the ceilings of all of the PFE stores, celebrating the dog and identifying the rescue group which received a financial donation. PFE doesn’t charge NorCal GSP Rescue directly any fees for this privilege. To participate, anyone who has donated at least $250 to NorCal GSP Rescue within the past year (amount excludes adoption donations) is eligible. Let’s join the dozens of other rescue groups already participating in the My Mutt Program and have our adopted GSPs displayed proudly.

Actual size 36" x 60"
To get your GSP rescue photographed and displayed at a PFE location, just click on the attached link:
www.petfoodexpress.com, then click on the My Mutt tab. For donations of $500 or more, you can keep the poster after it has been displayed for 12 months!
Check out our
Support page for other ways you can help, some at no cost to you!
